1/2" hand sockets are commonly used for car maintenance. The torque value is between 3/4" and 3/8" sockets. For automotive applications, due to the high degree of locking of the nut, recommending to use 1/2" sockets are better than 3/8" sockets. If you use 3/8" sockets, it may not be able to be disassembled. Common sockets are 6-point and 12-point sockets and deep sockets. The Metric sizes range from 8mm to 32mm, and the SAE sizes range from 5/16" to 1-1/4". There are also Spline sockets and BIT sockets.
